The September issue of Food & Wine magazine includes E. Guigal Côtes du du Rhône Rouge 2017, Domaine Chanson Viré-Clessé 2018 and Telmo Rodríguez Dehesa Gago Toro 2018 in a story focused on fantastic wines under $20.
Senior wine critic Ray Isle notes that “finding good white Burgundy is almost unthinkable,” yet Domaine Chanson’s aromatic Viré-Clessé 2018 is “a steal” with its rich apple and sweet clovery notes.
Guigal is recognized as one of the leading wineries across the region and the family’s Côtes du du Rhône Rouge lives up to the reputation. The blend features Syrah prominently, “resulting in a powerful, peppery red with hints of black olive and Mediterranean herbs.”
Telmo Rodriguez’s Dehas Gago Toro is described as juicy, graceful and flavorful, offering notes of blueberries, blackberries, toast and licorice.
